AmaZulu winger Luvuyo Memela hopes his side’s luck in front of goal has changed as they prepare for the DStv Premiership clash with Durban rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows on Wednesday.
Usuthu are fresh from a 3-1 victory over Malawi side Nyasa Big Bullets in an away CAF Champions League tie in which they finally found some form in front of goal after a frustrating start to the season.
Memela is hopeful they can transfer that proficiency to domestic football, having netted just one goal in five games prior to the weekend.
“Playing outside of South Africa in the CAF is very different from the DStv Premiership,” Memela says. “We haven’t won any [domestic] games since the season started, so we are going to go there and try and do the same thing as we did at the weekend.
“We have been creating chances, we were just not converting them. It was good at the weekend when we managed to score three goals, that is what we needed.
“We were creating chances, but missing goals. It happens like that in football where you need to dig deeper and deeper to get the confidence of scoring goals again.
“I don’t think it is a problem for us, we just needed some luck
