Coach Benni McCarthy says he is pleased with the pre-season progress of his squad as they head to Mpumalanga for a camp this week.
Usuthu completed a stunning second-place finish in the DStv Premiership last season, which has secured them CAF Champions League football for the coming campaign.
That suggests it will be a busy time for McCarthy and his team, making their pre-season preparations all the more important.
“The team is looking good,” he told his club’s website. “The fitness levels in the players is looking impressive after the four or five weeks break they had, which is nice to see.
“The competitiveness is there and the two new boys look like they have settled in well, Keagan Buchanan and Mxolisi Kunene. Both seem to be doing well.
“Kunene is easing himself in since he has just come from an injury which he picked up from when he was at Maritzburg.
The rest of the guys that did amazingly well last season look to have stepped their game and it’s a really good sign. I’m excited for the prospects of this season.” © Mzansi Football
