Barcelona and Nike have unveiled the new away shirt for the 21/22 season, with a design that fuses the iconic blue and red of the club to give a unique identity when they are on their travels.
The vibrant purple on Barcelona’s 21/22 away shirt that’s created by the fusion of the classic Barca blue and red on the club’s gives a beautiful, modernised and pastel look for an away kit like never before – sticking true to the dynamic, creative and outspoken youth who are the pulse of the city, while also sending a message in favour of women’s empowerment. It’s certainly a bold effort, and one that’s bound to split opinion, following in the footsteps of the club’s latest home shirt.
This colour and execution of trims keeps in tune with blaugrana tradition, the side stripes call out the clubs’ key colours and within the terms ‘tots units fem força’ and ‘totes unides fem força’ translated to ‘together stronger’ both in female and male verbal forms are embossed, exemplifying the unity within the city.
The crest is monochromatic, meaning with every look there’s a different colour depending on the angle it’s looked at. There’s also a multicolour rainbow thread hidden within the shirt, mirroring the badge’s aesthetic. It’s complete with the famous Senyera colours on the neckline complementing the modern all purple uniform.
“I think our younger fans are going to love it, it’s so fresh and different from anything I’ve ever seen,” says Aitana Bonmati. “In every look, you find more intricate details and it’s the perfect uniform for representing this amazing club with its rich history.”
