Al Ahly forward, Percy Tau, has been voted as the Egyptian Premier League Player of the Week for gameweek 1 following his MOTM performance against Ismaily.
The first week of the 2021-2022 Egyptian Premier League season was a very high-scoring one, as we saw 26 goals being scored with only six teams out of the 18 missing the mark.
Additionally, three teams scored four goals, with Al Ahly beating Ismaily 4-0 and Ittihad of Alexandria and Smouha drawing 4-4.
Despite the high number of goals, only three players scored two goals in Percy Tau, Walid El-Karti (Pyramids), and Mohamed Helal (Bank Al Ahly).
But it was Tau that stole the show after being a constant threat to the Ismaily goal and could’ve added more goals to his tally in his first official game with the Reds jersey.
Tau was, therefore, voted by the fans as the Player of the Week, as announced by the Egyptian Professional Football Association.
The South Africa international will hope to continue this form on Sunday when they host Bank Al Ahly, who beat Tala’a El-Gaish 3-0, at the Al Ahly WE Al-Salam Stadium. © kingfut
