Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed he is unhappy despite the huge 4-0 win over Ceramica Cleopatra in the 23rd round fixture of the Egyptian Premier League.
The title-holders wasted no time as they took the lead less than five minutes into the game through Yasser Ibrahim who scored a header taking advantage of the confused defenses.
During the eventful first half, Al Ahly scored two other goals that were both ruled off after checking the VAR, one due to handball, and another due to offside, but the highlight of the first 45 minutes was the send-off of Ceramica Cleopatra goalkeeper Amer Mohamed.
Amer received a straight red after deliberately using his hands outside the box to deny Mohamed Sherif.
In the second half, the hosts’ performance improved and they doubled the lead through a penalty kick that was executed by the league’s top scorer Mohamed Sherif.
The gap was then widened further as the third goal was scored after Ajayi sent a low cross that was redirected to the blue nets through Ceramica center-back Tarek Samy.
Afsha then sent in a screamer that was far from Ceramica goalkeeper’s reach for the game to end 4-0 in favor of Al Ahly.
In the press conference after the match, Pitso expressed how he’s unhappy despite the victory and explained the reason behind it.
“We scored four goals which is a positive thing for sure, but I am dissatisfied about the performance despite the win, we wasted a lot of goal-scoring chances,” Pitso said.
“However, what matters the most is that we won important three points in the title race.
“After every game, every coach should look at his team problems and work on fixing them, even Pep Guardiola does that, Mohamed Hany improved on the defensive side which is very important to the team.
“Ali Maaloul is responsible for taking penalty kicks, he chose to leave it to Sherif, he previously did the same with Badr Benoun, the players love each other and they try to help each other.”
